Austrian Trust Fund to allocate grant to Belarus to support privatization


The Trust Fund of the Ministry of Finance of Austria intends to allocate a grant to Belarus to support privatization in the country. This topic was discussed at a meeting between specialists of the State Property Committee and the World Bank.

Tatiana Segal, Operations, World Bank. informed the Belarusian side of the status of the Trust Fund of the Ministry of Finance of Austria. The work is underway on the agreement on the grant to be allocated by the Austrian fund. “This will allow the Belarusian government to use Austrian funds to support the privatization process in the country.”

The technical content of the agreement has already been discussed and agreed with representatives of the Economy Ministry during a visit of World Bank experts to Belarus in September this year. At the moment the document is being finalized.

In addition, specialists of the State Property Committee and the World Bank continued discussion on the five pilot companies to be privatized in Belarus with the participation of the National Agency for Investment and Privatization. The committee has not specified which companies these would be.
