Belarus Investment Forum in Germany to focus on energy, logistics

Key topics at the Belarus Investment Forum in Germany will be power engineering and logistics, Belarusian Deputy Economy Minister Andrei Tur told media on 3 September.

The Belarus Investment Forum is supposed to take place in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, on 17 November 2010 as part of the Euro Finance Week.

The forum is important for Belarus because it will allow attracting more interest to the country’s investment climate and encouraging partners from various countries to invest in Belarus, said Andrei Tur.

According to the official, representatives of foreign financial institutions and banks are expected to make reports at the forum. “We will try to attract as many participants as possible to the forum. They will be not only business circles of Germany but business circles of other European Union countries and the rest of the world,” said the Deputy Economy Minister. Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky is expected to take part in the forum.

Two plenary sessions “Why investing in Belarus is profitable?” and “How to invest in Belarus?” are supposed to be held. In addition, four panel sessions will be held to talk over the investment attractiveness of the Belarusian banking industry, new opportunities inside the emerging Customs Union, and promising avenues for attracting investments, primarily in energy saving, alternative sources of energy, ecology and other areas.

According to Andrei Tur, power engineering will be the most promising avenue at the forum. Attention will be also focused on presenting Belarus’ transit opportunities, including those relating to the Customs Union. Projects in other areas, for instance, agriculture and processing, will be discussed.
