By the year 2012 In Belarus will launch about 40 biogas plants


 

According to the governmental press service, construction of facilities operating on biogas, received from agricultural and industrial waste, municipal and household waste and sludge, will annually produce approximately 340 million kilowatt hours of electricity and will replace imported natural gas in a volume of more than 145 tons of equivalent fuel. At the same time ecologic pressures on the environment will be  reduced, agricultural enterprises will receive high-quality organic fertilizer, and infestation of sown areas by using unprocessed organic will decrease.

Total funding of the program activities will be about 577 billion rubles, including foreign investments, bank loans, own funds of organizations, innovation funds of government and other state organizations,  funds from the republican and local budgets and resources from the budgetary local funds targeted on environmental protection. The amount and sources of funding may be refined after the development of design estimates for construction projects.

Ministry of Housing and Communal Services, Ministry of Agriculture and Food, National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, concerns “Belgospischeprom”, “Belbiofarm” and “Belneftekhim”, regional executive committees and Minsk City Executive Committee, State Committee on Standardization are indentified as state customers and executives of the program.
