Easier land allocation for tourism investors in Belarus

There are plans to stop using auctions to allocate land for building tourism infrastructure in Belarus. The option is laid down by the draft decree, which is aimed at developing Belarus’ tourism services export, announced Andrei Martynov, Deputy Director of the Tourism Department of the Belarusian Sports and Tourism Ministry.

The novelty is supposed to create more favorable conditions for businessmen, who intend to invest in building tourism infrastructure in Belarus.

“It is necessary to remove any hindrances for such investors because a man or a company that will build a tourism facility will not take it away. Contrariwise it will create jobs for local residents”, said the official. Both investors and local budgets will benefit from the novelty. The latter will be able to increase the collection of taxes and other fees.

A while ago President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko gave an instruction to avoid making hindrances to potential investors. In his words, investors must not run into artificial hindrances. “If we create conditions, there will be results. Let’s not hope that investors will come [by themselves]. Let’s think about creating the infrastructure for it. If investors come, we should embrace them with open arms,” said the Belarusian head of state.
