Goodyear eager to buy Grodno Khimvolokno tire yarn


The US tire and rubber manufacturer Goodyear has expressed an interest in buying tire yarn from the Belarusian company Grodno Khimvolokno, BelTA learned from representatives of Belneftekhim concern.

At present Goodyear is examining Grodno Khimvolokno’s capabilities to manufacture the products up to Goodyear standards.

BelTA has been told that as part of its quality management procedures Grodno Khimvolokno receives feedback from customers. In 2009 and in Q1 2010 the Russian company Nizhnekamskshina, the largest buyer of tire yarn and a long-standing partner of Grodno Khimvolokno, qualified the Grodno-based company as an excellent supplier with 99% satisfaction. Non-CIS buyers are of the same opinion, namely Capsco Private (Singapore) and the German company MEP-OLBO.

Grodno Khimvolokno was founded in 1971. It is capable of manufacturing over 50,000 tonnes of polyamide-6, over 35,000 tonnes of chemical fibers and yarns per annum. Four manufacturing divisions of the company offer nylon industrial thread and tire yarn, cord thread and caprone thread, consumer goods and plastics. The products are exported to 29 countries.
