Grodno hosting international investment forum


More than 70 investment projects in Grodno Oblast are presented at the 2nd International investment forum, Grodno At the Crossroad of Boundaries, which opened in Grodno on 30 September.

Taking part in the forum are diplomats, government officials, and businessmen from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Slovakia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Czech Republic and Germany. The sides are set to discuss the following issues: investment cooperation in construction, free economic zones as a priority for foreign investments attraction, cross-border cooper cooperation as a key factor for good neighborly relations development, inter-regional tourism cooperation. The forum will also feature a real property auction.

Grodno Oblast Governor Semyon Shapiro said that the forum demonstrates the improvement of Belarus’ investment climate. He also expressed his confidence that the forum will create grounds for new agreements, creation of new projects, and joint ventures. 

Grodno Mayor Boris Kozelkov said that Grodno district attracts foreign investors due to its geographical position. Grodno has established trade and economic relations with 101 countries. The Grodnoinvest Free Economic Zone has attracted €160 million worth of foreign investments.

Grodno proposes various investment projects in chemical industry, engineering, metalworking, and construction materials production. The city needs investments to create a logistics centers network, construct residential districts, shopping malls, parking areas and sports centers.

The 2nd investment forum is being held simultaneously with the Neman-2010 fair. The goal of both events is to intensify economic cooperation, boost the export volume, raise investments, conclude new agreements and create new joint ventures.
