Grodno region to receive 3.5m Euro within Poland-Belarus-Ukraine program


At the first stage of the program there have been selected 21 projects out of 307 applications worth of €187.2 million. Of them nine are with Belarus’ participation. Seven projects will be implemented with the participation of Grodno organizations and institutions.

The European Commission has approved three projects of the Grodno Region hospital and two of Yanka Kupala University of Grodno. A joint project of the oblast office of the National Tourist and Sports Union and the department of physical education, sports and tourism of the oblast executive committee and a project of the Grodnoobldorstroi utilities service have been also shortlisted.

Almost €3.5 million will be granted to the oblast to purchase medical equipment to treat TB, cancer, diagnose different diseases. The funds will be also used to develop tourism, road infrastructure and education.

According to Alexander Berebenya, preparation of the projects is quite a difficult process. Poland has a rich experience in the area and is interested in Belarusian initiatives.

The first phase of the Poland-Belarus-Ukraine program envisages €16 million of resources. The financing of the second phase totals almost €90 million.

The program funds do not finance business or any personal interests. Applications should be of transboundary importance.
