WB to allot $30m for Belarus’ energy-saving efforts


The World Bank is expected to grant an additional loan of $30 million to Belarus for the implementation of energy-saving projects, was learnt from head of the project team, Senior Energy Specialist Pekka Salminen.

In his words, all necessary documents are ready. The relevant decision is expected to be taken in a session of the Board of Directors of the World Bank in several weeks.

It will take three years to implement the aforesaid projects. The bulk of the resources will be put in Gomel Oblast energy-saving projects at social facilities (boilers upgrading, installation of insulated glass units, etc.).

Belarus is currently completing the implementation of the projects financed by the WB’s previous loan of $50 million.
