WB to discuss economic situation in Belarus with local experts


The economic situation in Belarus will be discussed during a visit of the WB Country Director for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova Martin Raiser, BelTA learnt from the WB Office in Belarus.

The visit began on 13 September and will last for five days. Mr Martin Raiser will hold meetings in the government, the National Bank and the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Belarus, and will also meet with representatives of the international community, business and analytical circles. Mr Martin Raiser is set to participate in the discussions that will take place within the framework of the visits of experts from the World Bank, who are in Belarus to study the privatization and fiscal policy. The meetings will discuss the current socio-economic situation, the priority measures of the economic policy, the progress in the implementation and preparation of the projects supported by the World Bank, the analytical work and the prospects for further cooperation between Belarus and the WB.

On September 16 Mr Martin Raiser will go to Brest to meet with the regional authorities and visit the Brest free economic zone.
