Belarus in talks with Russia over biotechnology park

Belarus is in negotiations with Russian companies over creation of the Biograd national park of nanotechnologies, biotechnologies and pharmaceutics, head of the science and innovations department of the Economy Ministry of Belarus Dmitry Krupsky told reporters.

“We have held preliminary talks with four major Russian companies,” he said, without specifying the names, as no papers have been signed so far. “If everything goes as we planned, a decree to set up the park will be signed. The key point here is not just the park’s structure, but the support of companies, which would like to be Biograd’s residents. This is why we are focused on negotiations now,” Dmitry Krupsky said.

The creation of Biograd will create a new cluster of nanotechnologies, biotechnologies and pharmaceutics industries in Belarus. The country still lags behind in this field, Dmitry Krupsky believes.
