German investors to launch new bioenergy project in Belarus

The German Fund of Michael Succow is going to launch a bioenergy project in Belarus, announced the press service of the State Science and Technology Committee (SSTC).

German experts submitted their project to create a special area for wetlands management and biomass manufacturing necessary to produce energy in Belarus. “If the Committee approves the project, Belarusian scientists from the NASB Institute of Nature Management and the Sakharov International State Ecological University will step up their efforts to implement it,” the press service said.

The project will enhance energy capacity and preserve biological diversity of the country.

“The project goes in line with the Belarusian energy efficiency policy. If approved, it will become a good example of efficient peatlands’ utilization in Belarus, Poland and Ukraine,” the SSTC officials added.
