IKEA to sponsor enterprise construction in Grodno Oblast


IKEA International Group is eager to invest €12 million in the construction of a wood-processing enterprise in Svisloch District, Grodno Oblast, announced the organizing committee of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee.

The international group of companies will sign an investment agreement with the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee on the construction a plant in the near future. The parties are currently working out the terms of the agreement. The plant may be built in Svisloch District. The construction and mounting works are projected to start in March-April 2012.

The project will be implemented in several steps. Initially the plant will manufacture furniture components. Later it will launch the production of furniture. Similar IKEA-sponsored companies operate in other countries, including Poland.

According to the Economy Committee, IKEA International Group is the strategic partner of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee. In future IKEA is likely to increase its presence in the region. There are plans to build a big furniture trading facility in the city of Grodno.

Sweden-based IKEA Company was founded in 1943. It is the world's largest furniture retailer. The Group operates over 30 furniture factories and about 280 shops in 26 countries.
