Investors’ interest in Belarus still high


There are plans to implement investment projects worth a total of €840 million in Brest Oblast in the current five-year term, Brest Oblast Governor Konstantin Sumar told media at the opening of the 4th Brest Investment Forum on 13 April.

There are plans to implement 48 investment projects in the region till 2015. This year about €50 million worth of these projects will be started.

The head of the Brest Oblast administration said he was confident that the 4th Brest Investment Forum will bring about new projects and arrangements. “Our ties are developing, the interest in Belarus is not going down. Today we welcome representatives of Hungary, Armenia, Sweden, Czechia and other countries. We have something to offer – there is a program to develop the region, there are projects we believe to be advisable for implementation, cooperation with investors is smooth,” said Konstantin Sumar.

This year it is the first time that the Brest Investment Forum has expanded its format. The events are taking place in the oblast capital and the town of Kobrin. “It is a new form of interaction with investors. We would like to show the potential of our regions, the way investment projects are going on there, to demonstrate the level of development of our small towns to our partners, to show the development of not only the economy but also the social sphere,” explained Konstantin Sumar.

The 4th Brest Investment Forum takes place as part of the annual international fair “Brest. Commonwealth”. Visitors will be able to see current investment projects and proposals of the region’s industry and agriculture, civil engineering, housing and community amenities, power engineering, tourism and trade. Brest Oblast’s catalogue of investment proposals includes 100 projects, 150 land plots fit for building industrial facilities, a list of enterprises, which shares are up for sale this year.
